Young Lives is a newly established private practice in Maryborough; Young Lives: Mental Health and Wellbeing Assessment Service. Our service covers the Sunshine Coast, Wide Bay and Burnett Regions. Young Lives Mental Health and Wellbeing Assessment Service aims to provide responsive, appropriate and comprehensive mental health and wellbeing assessment and care to all children, adolescents and young persons (up to 25 years of age). I have twenty years experience working with children in the community, plus seven years experience in the Mental Health field. Family Therapy is one area where Young Lives can provide assistance as sometimes families need professional help to reach their full potential and have the children grow into mentally and physically healthy adults. As television programs like 'Super Nanny' and 'Honey, We are Killing the Kids' have displayed, in many cases the solution to very common parenting problems can be overcome with good ground rules and a willingness to change learnt behaviours (both the parents and the children). The other focus of Young Lives is in all areas of mental health and wellbeing which can include but are not limited to areas such as ADD with or without Hyperactivity, ASD, Autism, Aspergers, Depression, Poor Eating Behaviour, Anorexia and Bulimia; Psychosis, Behavioural Difficulties, Developmental Delays, Oppositional and Defiant Behaviour, Conduct Problems, Learning Issues, Dysphasia, Dyspraxia Sensory Concerns, Genetic/Chromosomal Anomaly, Tourettes, Bipolar, Aggression, Serious Self Harming, Suicidalideation, Forensic Mental Health, Anxiety and general feelings of low self esteem. Young Lives is run on a family therapy approach utilising a shared care arrangement with a General Practitioner, Schools and Other Agencies. I have registered with Medicare as a Mental Health Worker (Allied Health) and my provider number is 2802711B.
